The backlog

Why the post you meant to write is still a blank document.

Diagnosis

You’re the best source in the company and the worst-scheduled writer.

A 2,000-word article is a working day you don’t have. The pipeline call wins that day every time, and the draft waits another quarter. We ask for 60 minutes of your voice and carry everything after it.

Raw transcript

QWhere do buyers misjudge the timeline?

AHonestly — um — they budget for the audit and forget the evidence collection. That’s, like, eleven of the fourteen weeks.

Edit

Published lead · sample

Buyers budget for the audit and forget evidence collection — the work that eats eleven of fourteen weeks.

The method

Transcript in. Two thousand words out.

A 60-minute call yields roughly 9,000 words of transcript. We mark the eight to ten passages worth quoting, verify every claim against a primary source, and keep about a fifth of the material. What survives is your phrasing, not ours.

First call

Bring four things. Leave with a topic map.

The scoping call runs 25 minutes and costs nothing. You leave with a topic map for your first four pieces and a fixed quote in writing, whether or not you sign.

Intake sheet

  • The reader you want to reach: job title, company size, what they’re deciding.
  • One claim you would defend in public.
  • Two or three sources we can cite: papers, filings, data you own.
  • Any phrasing your legal or compliance team will strike.

Proof note

The spec sheet, in four numbers.

60minutes of your time per interview
10business days from interview to first draft
2revision rounds included with every piece
4–8published pieces in every fixed-scope package

These are the terms we write into every statement of work. If a scope needs different numbers, the quote says so before work begins.

Before you sign

What an informed buyer asks first.

Short answers, written into the statement of work, not left to a handshake.

Will the published piece sound like me?

We draft from your recorded syntax: your verbs, your sentence length, the analogies you reached for unprompted. Revision round one is a voice check. You mark anything you wouldn’t say aloud, and we recalibrate before round two.

Whose byline runs, and who owns the copy?

Yours. Every piece publishes under your name, and on final payment the copyright assigns to you. We claim no portfolio rights unless you grant them in writing.

How do you handle confidential or regulated subject matter?

We sign your NDA before the first call. Anything marked off-record in the transcript stays out of drafts, and claims that need compliance review go to your legal contact before round one ships.

What if the first draft misses the angle?

Each piece includes two revision rounds. If the interview itself missed the angle, we schedule a 20-minute re-interview at no charge before drafting again.

How is a package billed?

Fixed scope, two invoices: 50% at kickoff and 50% when the final piece is delivered. Any change to scope is quoted in writing before work begins.
